Whatever Can Happen

It's true

That something

Has happened.

It's also true

Will happen.

It might be good news,

Or bad news,

Or just news.

Whatever it is,

Or whatever

It will be,

Is not in my hands,

Not in yours,

Not in ours.

We do have

Certain decisions

To make,

Of course.

But whatever can happen

Will happen.

And whatever has happened

Is irreversible.

So close your eyes

And pray

To the Gods

You believe in,

Or the ones

Who believe in you.

And if you fall,

Promise yourself

One thing:

Stand again.

Rise
