ವನಂ ಮೂಲಂ‌ ಇದಂ ಜಗತ್

ಕೆಲವು ದಿನಗಳ ಹಿಂದಿನ ಮಾತು. ನಾನು ಮತ್ತು ಆಫೀಸರ್ ಒಂದು ಹೌಸಿಂಗ್ ಲೋನ್  inspection ಮುಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ವಾಪಸ್ ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆವು. ಸಮಯ ಆಗಲೇ 3.30 ಆಗಿತ್ತು. ಆಗ ಆಫೀಸರ್ “ಇಲ್ಲೇ ಸಮೀಪದ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಶಾಲೆಯ ಬಳಿ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿ. ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಶಾಲೆ ಅಕೌಂಟ್ ಮತ್ತು High School ಶಾಲಾ‌ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಅಕೌಂಟ್ Canvas ಮಾಡಬೇಕು” ಅಂತ ಸರ್ ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ನಾನು, “ಸರ್, ಆ‌ ಶಾಲೆ ಹೆಡ್ ಮಾಸ್ಟರ್‌ ಪರಿಚಯ ಇಲ್ಲ, ಮತ್ತು‌ ಆಗಲೇ ಶಾಲೆ‌ ಮುಗಿಯೋ‌ ಸಮಯ‌ ಆಗ್ತಾ ಬಂತು. ಏನು ಮಾಡೋಣ ಸರ್ ಅಂದೆ.?” “ಬನ್ನಿ ಮೊದಲು ಹೋಗೋಣ, ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ನಮ್ಮದು, ಫಲ ಆಮೇಲೆ” ಅಂದರು. ಸರಿ‌ ಅಂತ ಹೆಂಗೋ ಧೈರ್ಯ ಮಾಡಿ ಶಾಲೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ, ಹೆಡ್ ಮಾಸ್ಟರ್ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮುಗಿಸಿದ್ದಾಯಿತು. ಹೊರಗೆ ಬರುವಾಗ ಅಲ್ಲೇ ವಾಲಿ ಬಾಲ್ ಕೋರ್ಟ್ ಇಂದ ಬಾಲ್ ಜ಼ರ್ ಅಂತ ಬಂದು ನನ್ನ ಕಾಲ್ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಬಂದು ಬಿತ್ತು. “ಅಂಕಲ್, ಬಾಲ್ ಸರ್ವ್ ಮಾಡಿ, ಪ್ಲೀಸ್” ಒಬ್ಬ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ ಕೇಳಿದ. ಬಾಲ್ ಸರ್ವ್ ಮಾಡಿ ಕೇಳಿದೆ, “ಒಂದು ರೌಂಡ್ ನಾವೂ ಆಡಬಹುದಾ?!” ಅವರೆಲ್ಲಾ ಓಕೆ ಅಂದರು. ಸರಿ ಅಂತ ನಾವು, ಟೀಚರ್ಸ್ ಒಂದು ಟೀಮ್ ಮಕ್ಕಳೆಲ್ಲಾ ಒಂದು ಟೀಮ್ ಆಡಿದ್ವಿ. ಆಟ ಮಾತ್ರ ಭರ್ಜರಿ ಖುಷಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿತು, 6-1 ಅಂತರದಲ್ಲಿ‌ ಹೀನಾಯವಾಗಿ ಸೋತೆವು, ಆ ಮಾತು ಬೇರೆ. As our officer said, particiption is important, results are secondary ಅಂತ ನನಗೆ ನಾನೇ ಧೈರ್ಯ ಹೇಳಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದೆ. ಇನ್ನೇನು ಹೊರಡಬೇಕು ಅನ್ನುವಾಗ, ಒಂದು 15 ನಿಮಿಷ ಬ್ಯಾಂಕಿಂಗ್ ಮತ್ತು ಉಳಿತಾಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹಾಗೆ ಒಂದು ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಡೆಮೊ ಕೊಡಿ ಸರ್ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಖುಷಿಯಾಗ್ತಾರೆ ಅಂತ ಹೆಡ್ ಮಾಸ್ಟರ್ ಹೇಳಿದರು. ನಾನು ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಮುಖ ನೋಡ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದೆ, ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಮುಖ ಹಂಗೇ ಡಲ್ ಆಗಿ ಹೋಯ್ತು. “ಹಾಗಾದ್ರೆ ಒಂದು ಕಥೆ ಹೇಳೋಣ?” ಅಂದೆ. ಎಲ್ಲಾ ರೆಡಿಯಾಗಿ ಕ್ಲಾಸ್ ರೂಮ್ ಹೋಗೋಕೆ ರೆಡಿಯಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. “ಕ್ಲಾಸ್ ರೂಮ್ ಏನೂ ಬೇಡ, ಇಲ್ಲೇ ಮರದ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಬನ್ನಿ” ಅಂತ ನಾನು ಕಥೆ ಶುರು ಮಾಡಿದೆ. 

 

ಒಂದು ಊರಲ್ಲಿ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರಿದ್ದರು, ಇಬ್ಬರದ್ದೂ ಒಂದೇ ಹೆಸರು, ಒಂದೇ ದಿನ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ್ದು, ಒಂದೇ ಕಡೆ‌ ಕೆಲಸ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ. ಆದರೆ ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸ ಅಂದರೆ‌ ಒಬ್ಬರಿಗೆ ಸಿಗರೇಟ್ ಸೇದುವ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸ ರೂಢಿಯಾಗಿ ಹೋಯಿತು. ಆದರೆ ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬರು‌ ಅದರ ಸಹವಾಸಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕಮ್ಮಿ ಆ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ‌ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ‌ ಸಿಗರೇಟ್ ಎಷ್ಟು ಬಾರಿ ಸೇದಿದರೂ ಅವನ‌ ಗೆಳೆಯ ಪಕ್ಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಲೋಟ ಟೀ ಕುಡಿಯುತ್ತಾ ಅವನ ಜೊತೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಇರುತ್ತಿದ್ದ. ಹೀಗೇ 15 ವರ್ಷ ಆಯಿತು. ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಆ ಮೊದಲನೇ ಸಿಗರೇಟ್‌ ಸೇದುವ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಇಂದ ಸತ್ತು ಹೋದ. ಇದರಿಂದ ಸಿಗರೇಟ್ ಸೇದದ ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ‌ ತುಂಬಾ ವರ್ಷಗಳ‌ ಕಾಲ ದುಃಖ‌ ಪಟ್ಟನು. ನಂತರ ಕೆಲವು‌ ವರ್ಷಗಳ ನಂತರ ಎರಡನೇ ಸಿಗರೇಟ್ ಸೇದದ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಕೂಡ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಇಂದ‌ ಸತ್ತು ಹೋದನು. ಈಗ ಈ‌ ಕಥೆಯ ಸಾರಾಂಶ ಅಥವಾ ಇದರ ನೀತಿ ಏನಿರಬಹುದು? ಯಾರಾದರೂ ಹೇಳೋಕೆ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ‌ ಮಾಡ್ತೀರಾ?

“ಸರ್ ಅದು ಒಬ್ಬರು ತಪ್ಪು ಮಾಡಿ ಜಾರಿ‌ ಬಿದ್ದರು. ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬರು ತಪ್ಪು‌ಮಾಡದೇ‌ ಜಾರಿ ಬಿದ್ದರು. ಒಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ‌ ಇಬ್ಬರೂ ನೆಗೆದು ಬಿದ್ದರು” ಅಂತ ಒಬ್ಬ ಹುಡುಗ ಹೇಳಿದ. ಅವನ‌ ಪಂಚ್ ಗೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳೆಲ್ಲಾ ಗೊಳ್ ಅಂತ ನಕ್ಕರು. Good observation, ಹ್ಹ‌ಹ್ಹ, ಆದರೆ ವಿಷಯ ಅದಕ್ಕಿಂತ‌ ಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿದೆ, ಕೇಳಿ. ಈ ಕಥೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುವ Smoker ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಮೋಸ‌ ಮಾಡಿಲ್ಲ, ಹಣ‌ ಕದ್ದಿಲ್ಲ, ಅವನದು ಏನಿದ್ದರೂ self destruction, ಅವನ ದುಡ್ಡಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನು ಸಿಗರೇಟ್ ಖಾಲಿ ಮಾಡಿದ. ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಸಿಗರೇಟ್ ಅವನನ್ನು ಖಾಲಿ ಮಾಡಿತು. Simple story, ಧೂಮಪಾನ ಆರೋಗ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ‌ ಹಾನಿಕರ. ಆದರೆ ಎರಡನೇ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ‌ ಸಿಗರೇಟ್ ಸೇದಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಅವನು ತುಸು ತಡವಾಗಿ ಸತ್ತರೂ, ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ನ‌ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದ ಸತ್ತು ಹೋದನು. ಅದನ್ನು Passive Smoking ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅದು smoking ನಷ್ಟು speed ಆಗಿ ಆರೋಗ್ಯದ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಾನಿ ಮಾಡದೇ ಇದ್ದರೂ ಅದು‌ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯ ಆರೋಗ್ಯದ ಮೇಲೆ ಪ್ರಭಾವ ಬೀರೇ ಬೀರುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದು ಈ‌ ಭೂಮಿ ಮೇಲೆ ಇರುವ ಮಾನವ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳ‌ ಕಥೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ನೀವು ನೋಡಿ, ಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳು ಓಡುತ್ತವೆ, ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳು ಹಾರುತ್ತವೆ, ಕೆಲವು‌ ನೆಲದ ಮೇಲೆ‌, ಕೆಲವು ನೀರ ಒಳಗೆ, ಕೆಲವು ಸಸ್ಯಹಾರಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕೆಲವು ಮಾಂಸಹಾರಿ, ಹೀಗೆ ಅನೇಕ ವಿಧಗಳು‌ ಇವೆ. ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯ ಕೂಡ ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಾಣಿ. ಆದರೂ ಭೂಮಿ‌ ಮೇಲೆ ಯಾರಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಅಂತ ಕೇಳಿದರೆ ಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಮನುಷ್ಯ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಬಹುದು. ಭೂಮಿಯ‌ ಮೇಲೆ‌ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಛಾಯೆ ಅಷ್ಟು ಗಾಢವಾಗಿದೆ. ಬೆಟ್ಟ ಕಡಿದು ಜಮೀನು‌ ಮಾಡಿ ವ್ಯವಸಾಯ ಮಾಡಿದ, ಮನೆ ಕಟ್ಟಿದ, ಮನೆ‌ ಮೇಲೆ‌ ಮನೆ ಮಾಡಿ, ಕಾರ್ಖಾನೆ ಮಾಡಿ, ಮಂಗಳ ಗ್ರಹದ‌ ಮೇಲೆ ರೋವರ್ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ. ಇಷ್ಟೆಲ್ಲಾ‌ Technological Advancement ಮನುಕುಲಕ್ಕೆ ಉತ್ತಮವಾದರೂ ಸಸ್ಯ ಸಂಪತ್ತು, ಪ್ರಾಣಿ ಸಂಕುಲಕ್ಕೆ ಹಾನಿಯಾಗದ ಹಾಗೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಸಾಗಬೇಕಿದೆ. ಈ ಕಥೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂದ ಸಿಗರೇಟ್ ಸೇದುವ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಏ ಬಿಡು‌ ಅವನ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಅವನು ಹಾಳು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡ‌ ಅಂತ‌ ನಾವು ignore ಮಾಡುವಂತಿಲ್ಲ. ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ passive smoker ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯ ರೀತಿ‌ ನಾವು‌ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಪ್ರಕೃತಿ ನಾಶಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಾಣಿ ಪಕ್ಷಿ ಜೀವ‌ ಸಂಕುಲದ ಉಗಮಕ್ಕೆ ನಮ್ಮ‌ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಯೋಜನೆ‌ ಅಡ್ಡಿಯಾಗಬಾರದು. ಇಲ್ಲಾಂದರೆ ಯಾರೋ‌ ಮಾಡಿದ‌ ತಪ್ಪಿಗೆ ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ‌ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಗೆ ಬಲಿಯಾದಂತೆ‌ ನಮ್ಮಿಂದ‌ ಹಾಳಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವ ಈ ಪ್ರಕೃತಿ‌ ಪ್ರಾಣಿ ಸಂಕುಲವನ್ನೂ ಕೂಡ ಬಲಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಹಾಗಂತಾ ನಾಳೆಯಿಂದನೇ ನಾವೆಲ್ಲಾ‌ ಬೈಕ್‌ ಕಾರ್‌ ಮೂಲೆಗೆ ಹಾಕಿ, ಕೇವಲ ಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳ‌ ತರಹ Roti, Kapdaa aur Makaan ಅಂತ ಸುಮ್ಮನಿರಬೇಕು ನಾನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ನಮ್‌ ಆಫೀಸರ್ ಆಗಲೇ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು,ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ನಮ್ಮದು, ಫಲದ‌ ಚಿಂತೆ‌ ಈಗ ಬೇಡ ಅಂತ, ಹಾಗೆಯೇ‌ ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅಲ್ಪ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ‌ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಮಾಡಿ ಈ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ವಾಸ ಯೋಗ್ಯ‌ ಗ್ರಹವಾಗಿ‌ ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ದಿನ‌ ಕಾಪಾಡೋಣ. ಸರಿ, ಸಮಯ ಆಯ್ತು, ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಮನೆಗೆ‌ ಹೊರಡೋಣ? 

ಹೇಳಿದ‌ ತಕ್ಷಣ ಮಕ್ಕಳೆಲ್ಲಾ ಟೀಚರ್ಸ್ ಗೆ ನಮಸ್ಕಾರ ಹೇಳಿ, ಬ್ಯಾಗ್ ತಗೊಂಡು ರೈಟ್. ನಾವು ಬಾಲ್ ತಗೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ಆಫಿಸ್ ರೂಮಲ್ಲಿ‌ ಇಟ್ಟು, necessary documents ಮತ್ತು Tab ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅಕೌಂಟ್ ಮಾಡಲು ನಾಳೆ ಬರುತ್ತೇವೆ ಅಂತ ಹೇಳಿ ಬಂದೆವು.

Thoughts on House MD

The other day Abhiram finished House and he posted his review on WhatsApp or facebook, I don't remember much, I don't remember the content too. But I just remembered that I wanted to watch it and couldn't make it work for nearly 2-3 years. And this one time, while I watching a YouTube shorts, a video from House Season 5 or something. I was so impressed that I went ahead and started watching that episode directly. And to my luck, it was a box episode, and I was so glad that it was. A box episode is usually one episode in a season where they're limited to few locations or one location. As a writer, it's challenging to write such and most of them don't turn out to be good. Speaking of a box episode, Brooklyn 99, has a episode in Season 5, Episode 14, titled as 'The Box'. Almost full length of the episode runs in the police interrogation room which often refferres to as the box. Ok, coming back to House MD, I watched the box episode (Episode Name: Last Resort, Season 5, Episode 9) made me hooked to the show. So, I started watching House MD and it turned out to be a awesome show. To summarise, House MD is a medical show, Hugh Laurie plays Dr. Gregory House and along with a team he solves complicated medical situations with his genius mind. Kinda like Sherlock Holmes solving murders, but instead we have medical complications and patients life is at risk. Most of it, as they would say, medical mumbo jumbo, I couldn't understand them either. But House's interaction with team, Dr. Lisa Cuddy and very rarely with patients The drama in each episode is different, each patient and his or her backstory is different and it's kinda funny, sad or thrilling and sometimes even philosophical. I tried to write one or two articles based on two or three episodes on it because it kept me thinking for few days and hopefully someday I'll work on it. Speaking of Sherlock Holmes, Dr. James Wilson played by Robert Sean Leonard is like a additional bonus. He is the kind of friend everyone needs in this life to survive. He is there for roughly 6-8 minutes of it, but every scene he's in is worthwhile. There are many favourite episodes namely , two with Andre Braugher, Last Resort, Season 8 intro, the one which had a fat man, the bus crash, the one in a collapsed building,the one with kidney transplant, and so on. 

To conclude, House MD is over and I'm off to new one which I haven't finalized yet. But I'll come back few years later, because this was one of the best. 

Criminals from Gotham City and Rest of the World

Yesterday I was watching TV9 Kannada and there was this news segment where tomato farmer's crops have been destroyed by some unknown people. The farmer is now in 6lakh debt and he expected 20lakhs in return if everything went well. Now, obviously, everything did not go according to plan. The police came with sniffer dogs and etc and the report said the investigation is ongoing. As they say in Arjun Reddy, pain is personal, I mean I'm sorry for his loss, but the pain suffered by the farmer himself is more than that of us who are feeling sorry for him. I completed dinner and Amma shared a story back from those 1970s. There was a man who was going home through some jamindar's mango farmland and they thought he was stealing, scared him with violence, or in other words, aawaz haakodu and let him go. The man returned by midnight, cut mangoes that would fill up a big rice gunny bag and dropped one by one on his way to police station and dropped the gunny bag on Police Station gate and went home. This suddenly reminded me of the "Criminals aren't complicated, Alfred" scene from The Dark Knight. The video link is below and dialogue transcript is as follows:

Dialogue Transcript between Bruce Wayne and Alfred:

Bruce Wayne : [while in the underground bat cave]  Targeting me won't get their money back. I knew the mob wouldn't go down without a fight, but this is different. They crossed the line.

Alfred Pennyworth : You crossed the line first, sir. You squeezed them, you hammered them to the point of desperation. And in their desperation, they turned to a man they didn't fully understand.

Bruce Wayne : Criminals aren't complicated, Alfred. Just have to figure out what he's after.

Alfred Pennyworth : With respect Master Wayne, perhaps this is a man that *you* don't fully understand, either. A long time ago, I was in Burma. My friends and I were working for the local government. They were trying to buy the loyalty of tribal leaders by bribing them with precious stones. But their caravans were being raided in a forest north of Rangoon by a bandit. So, we went looking for the stones. But in six months, we never met anybody who traded with him. One day, I saw a child playing with a ruby the size of a tangerine. The bandit had been throwing them away.

Bruce Wayne : So why steal them?

Alfred Pennyworth : Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

We can argue who's at wrong and right all day and night and we may not even reach conclusion. Although he robbed the mangoes to get back at the jamindar's people, but his intentions may or may not align with that of Joker, but Joker and the bandit in the Burma story had same thoughts and intentions, they thought it was a good sport. Because some men don't care for money, they just want to watch the world burn. 

Dancing in the Rain

The other day I was coming home from work and it was raining. It was too little like a sprinkler in agricultural land spraying water. Since the rain was too low, I was walking home with the usual speed, earphones plugged in, operating mobile, looking out here and there and while I was busy in that, a notification popped up on the mobile screen and it was a photo from my friend all the way from Nevada, United States which is like lowest rainfall place in there. As I was scrolling through the pictures, my mobile screen was little drenched in the little rainfall and it felt awesome to see it. A low and cool rainfall on the lowest rainfall place in the US, so i thought it would be a good interaction to send him the screenshot of rainfall on Nevada. So, I took the screenshot and there wasn't any water dripping on it and I felt so stupid to witness that. I'm not super intelligent, but i remember all the MIS Codes of a jewel loan, SHG loan and staff festival advance, so i think I am something. But it felt so stupid that I tried to screenshot the rain drops on my mobile using screenshot. Not my proudest moment, but said ayyoo devaa and moved on. 

Moving on, at work the next day, I was at my usual stuff, at cash counter, I stood up to drink water and I saw this little girl, some 6 year probably, all dressed up in a silk dress or something i don't know what they call it, anyway, she was glowing like a Diya on deepavali festival. Just by the look of it and on the ornaments she wore, i estimated the gross income of the family, schemes that we can canvas to her parents, sukanya samruddhi account in her name, maturity amount of it if they save ₹500 per month and so on. I sat down to continue the work, her mother was at cash counter, and she enquired about fixed deposit for her daughter's education purpose in future. I explained few short and long term schemes and such. I stood up again to give interest rate Excel and maturity amount chart prepared by officer which would help them understand the scheme in a easy and better way. While we were in the middle of that, her daughter, who was in full enjoyment mode eating her chips from packet, giggling and all, suddenly became quite upset and she got up from her seat, struggled to get down from her chair and on to floor and ran few steps and hugged her. For a few seconds I couldn't realise what just happened I realised a important lesson that day. A banker me was in calculator mode thinking of business I can bring to the bank. A parent like the woman was thinking of reducing difficulties in her daughter's future life, by saving regularly to make her tomorrow better. But the little girl was right, she was living in the moment, she enjoyed every piece of chip she ate, laughed and giggled at everyone who waved hands at her, and when the chips were over, she immediately ran to her mother because she didn't want anything else. She tore down my world of materialism and taught me life sometimes is very simple having fun while we're in this world and always be closer to our loved ones. I mean I'm not saying one shouldn't save for their future etc. While I was thinking in future and the mother was stuck in past about difficulties faced by her and thinking about how to reduce the toughness of her daughter life, the daughter was pretty straight forward, she lived in the moment, she danced in the rain while we elders were running for the shelter because we can't afford to get sick and unable to show up for work the next day.  It's important to take yesterday's lessons to better manage tomorrow, but for today, let's live a little, an insight I got from that kid will stay for many more rain years. 

पर्यावरण की संरक्षणा में बैंकों की भूमिका

कुछ दिन पहले‌ की बात है। मैं बैंक मे‌ काम करता‌ था। लगबग एक बजे के‌ समय सीएम सार क्याबिन मे बुलाये और हम कुछ लोग सर के साथ चल पडे और सीधा कालेज पहुँच गये। मैं मन ही मन सोच रहा था सर हमे कालेज क्यू ले आये, बाद मे पता चला की जून 4, पर्यावरण दिन के‌ लिये बात करने के लिये उस कालेज से सर को बुलाया गया था। कार्यक्रम चालू हुवा। सर, कालेज का उपाध्याय और कुछ छात्र स्टेज मे आके पर्यसवरण के‌ कुछ नया संदेश दिये।‌ उसके बाद फारेस्ट डिपार्टमेंट से लाया गया प्लांट्स को कालेज ग्रौंड पे लगाये। कार्यक्रम के बाद मुझे‌ बुलाया गया‌ और बैंकिंग के विषय के बारे कुछ हलका सा इंट्रो देने के‌ लिये स्टेज मे‌ बुलाये।‌ हानेस्एली मैं भाषण करने के‌ लिये बिलकुल प्रिपेर्ड नहीं था। जो होगा‌ देखा जायेगा, वैसे ये मेरा प्रमोषन एग्साम तो नही है। The stakes are kinda very low here, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky, - Michael Scott" साल को याद करके स्टेज के ऊपर पहुँच तो गया। लेकिन इतना‌ बडा जनसागर को देशके मैं नर्वस फील होने लगा। मन ही मन आल ईस वेल आल ईस वेल बोलके एक‌ कहानी से शुरु किया।

 

“बहुत साल पहले‌ राजा महाराजा के जमाने मे‌ राकी भाय नाम का राजा राज करता था।“

 

“और हम आलरेडी केजिएफ दोनो‌ चाप्टर दरख चुके हैं। “पिछले लायन मे से जो कामेंट आया उसको सुनके सभा जोर से हसने लगा।

 

“पंच अच्छा था। लेकिन मैं आपका ध्यान इधर हैं या सिनिमा हाल की चक्कर कर रहा हैं उसको चेक करने के लिये राकी भाय का टापिक से शुरु किया। Without any more punch and reverse punch, let's start.” बोलके मैं टापिक के ऊपर बात शुरु किया।

 

एक गाँव मे एक आदमी रहता था। उसका नाम दिनेश था और वो‌ अकेला रहता था। इसके वजह से उसके घर मे‌ ज्यादा फरगनिचर और कुछ अलग चीजे‌ नही थे। कुछ समय के बाद उसके घर में चूहे चलने लगे। शुरु मे जब दिनेश बाहर जाता था, तब एक‌ या दो चूहे आके जो चीज़ खाने को मिला उसको खाके चला जाते थे। उसका घर मे चूहे आने जाने का प्याटर्न दिनेश observe नही किया। कुछ दिनों के बाद चूहों के संख्या बडने‌ लगा और ये बात दिनेश के नज़र मे आ गया। उसने चूहोंका पेस्टिसैड और कुछ अलग केमिकल्स घर मे लाके ट्राप बनाया लेकिन कोयी प्रयोजन नही हुआ । इसलिये उसने एक दिन पेट शेल्टर से एक बिल्ली को ले आया। और धीरे धीरे चूहों की संख्या कम हो गयी। और दिनेश को चूहे हर रोज दिखना बंद हो गया, वो‌ बिल्ली को खाना देना छोड दिया। वो बिल्ली एक या दो दिन देखके कुछ स्कीम लगाके प्लान बनाके घर से‌ भाग गया। दिनेश अब इतना आराम हो गया की वो वो बिल्ली घर मे ना होने का विषय नोटीस ही नही किया। That's all folks, The End.

 

"अब बतायिये इस कहानी से आपको क्या सीख मिलती है?"

 

"कि उसका नाम दिनेश‌ नही,‌ वो‌ स्टुपिड है।" ब्याक बेंचर के कामंट‌ से सभी छात्र हसने लगे।

 

"वो‌ तो‌ सी है। लेकिन इस कहानी प्राब्लम्स यानी समस्या की बारे मे है। कि हमारे जिंदगी मे हर प्रकार का‌ समस्या आती हैं और हम उसको कैसे डील करेंगे उसका अनुसार हमारा लाय्फ निर्धरित होया है। There are obviously two types of problems, Real and Imaginary. रियल प्रब्लम्स जो हमे दिखता हैं या उनका एफेक्ट हमारे ऊपर होना हमे नजर आता है। जैसे की घर मे चूहे होना, एग्साम मे फेल होना, जीवन मे यश ना पाना इत्यादी। ये सब रियल प्राब्लम्स हैं ‌और‌ उनका इम्मीडियट एफेक्ट हम पे हो जाता है। और इम्याजिनरी प्राब्लम्स मतलब ये प्राब्ल्मस 100% रियल हैं पर उसका realisation हमे बहुत देर से हो जायेगा। जैसा‌की इस कहानी मे उस बिल्ली का भाग जाना। जब वो बिल्ली घर मे था, कोई चूहे का समस्या नही था। और जब वो बिल्ली चला गया, उसका एफेक्ट immediately नही असर पडे या नही लेकिन बहुत व्यतिरिक्त परिणाम जरूर पडेगा। क्लामेट चेंज या ग्लोबल वार्मिंग की समस्या कुछ उस बिल्ली की तरह है। पर्यावरण इस कहानी मे आया हुवा बिल्ली के जैसा है। चब तक वो घर मे था, घर मे चूहे का समस्या नही था। इसलिये दिनेश याने की हम जैसे आम जनता आराम से जिंदगी गुजार रहे हैं। हमें ये बात याद रखना चाहिये कि पर्यावरण की वजह से हम है और हमारा रहना या ना रहने की वजह से पर्यावरण को ज्यादा कुछ फरक नही पडेगा। Obviously मानव का आने के बाद इस धरती मे बहुत सारे बदलाव आया हैं परंतु हमे ये याद रखना पडेगा की जो भी विकास हम जारी कर रहे हैं या करना चाहते हैं वो पर्यावरण के साथ साथ चलना चाहिये। And now coming to topic, as a banker, पर्यावरण कि संरक्षण के लिये मैं मतलब हम क्या कर सकते‌ हैं? एक समुदाय होके हम सब पर्यावरण संरक्षण कि ओर कैसे बड सकते हैं। इस के बारे मे कुछ बताना चाहूँगा ।

 

१. पेपरलेस एटिएम ट्रानसाक्षन

एटिएम‌ के‌ द्वारा‌ ट्रानसाक्षन करते‌ वक्त एटिएम मशीन एक सवाल पूछता हैं, ‌क्या आपको ट्रानसाक्षन रसीप्ट साहिये? मै हमेशा नो चूस करता हूँ, ‌क्यूंकी मैं बैंक मे‌ काम करता हूँ, ‌अगर एक दो ट्रान मिस हो गया तो भी बैंक की तरफ भागकर पासबूक एंट्री कराने की जरूरत नही है। क्यूंकि पासबुक एंट्री करनेवाला बंधा मैं खुद हूँ । Jokes aside, usually एक एटिएम रोल खतम होने मे दो तीन हफ़्ते तो लगेंगे । लेकिन हर‌ मोबाइल बैंकिंग कस्टमर एक रेसीप्ट ना लेने से कम से‌ कम दो बाक्स पूरा पेपर बच चाता है। As they say, supply and demand, एटिएम पेपर रल की डिमांड कम हो जाये तो already काटा हुवा पेपर पेड कोयी और stationery बनाने मे उपयोग होता है।

 

२. वाटर बाटल

मैं हमेशा बैग मे वाटर बाटल रखता हूँ। घर जाते वक्त एटिएम के पास नगरपालिका से लगा हुआ पौधा के पास‌ पानी सब खतम करके जाता हूँ। It's not much, but it's honest work कहावत के अनुसार वो उतना बडा काम नही हैं, लेकिन दोपहार के समय वो एटिएम के पास चिंटु नाम का स्ट्रे डाग वहा पौधे के नीछे सोता है। It's like unappointed watch man of our ATM, I mean, पाईंट ये‌ की पर्यावरण दिवस के समारंभ मे पेड पौधा लगाना आसान हैं, अब जो already existing पेडों को maintain करना मुषकिल है। इसलिये आप के धर जाते वक्त एक रोड सैड पेड कि देखबाल शुरु कर सकते हैं।

 

३. से नो‌ टु प्लास्टिक

प्लास्टिक हमारी इको सिस्टम का एक अविभाज्य अंग हो गया है। सुबह पीने की वाटर बाटल से लेकर रात‌‌‌का फेस‌वाश बाटल तक सब कुछ प्लास्टिकमय बना है। सर्कार एक ही दिन मे कल‌ से प्लासटिक ब्यान बोलके नया अधिसूचन ला सकता है। लेकिन उससे‌ जुडा फ्याक्टरी व्कर्स ड्रैवर्स एसे हर व्यक्ती निरुद्योगी हो जायेगा। वो बहुत बडी प्लाब्लम है। लेकिन with in our limit, at banks, हम हर पैसे वितड्रा करने वालों को, पेन्शनर, महिला, सीनियर सिटिजन को क्लात ब्याग दे सकते हैं। And since it's reusable, we can limit plastic usage to some extent.

 

४. बेहतर कल

बैंक मे हर एक व्यक्ति पैसा सेव करता है। क्योंकि वो कल के लिये सहारा दे सके। लेकिन वो कल ही नही आया तो? इसलिए share your ride काफी उपयुक्त होता है। जैसा की इस फंक्षन मे आते वक्त मैं सर के साथ आया और हमारा एक ट्रिप‌ का पेट्रोल बच गया। As I said already, it's not much, but it's honest work, चार पांच बैंक मिलके बैंक को आनेवाले स्टाफ या कस्टमर को सामूहिक वाहन दे सकता है। इसकी वजह से दस व्यक्ति एक ही जगह जाने की लिये दस गाडिया लेना रुक जायेगा और कल के लिये थोडा पेट्रोल बच जायेगा और आज के हिसाब‌ से पोलुषन थोडा कम।

 

"पर्यावरण की संरक्षण मे बैंको की भूमिका के बारे मे ये हो गया है। और मैं सर्कार से विनंती करता हू की, save paper, stop cutting trees, say no to exams"

 

लास्ट बेंच स्टूडेंट्स झोर से ताली मारने लगे और हम बैंक काम के लिये कालेज से निकले।
